What The Law of Attraction Is Not

I keep reading bad information about the law of attraction in forums. The writers talk about holding wishful magical thoughts and then sitting back and waiting for magic to happen. So they claim this is a fraud, that magic doesn’t happen this way. I would agree that simple wishful thinking this way is a fraud but it is not the law of attraction.
The law of attraction calls on you to visualize your result, draw ideas about achieving it from the visualization, and to act on those ideas, and finally to repeat the loop daily. This is far from just thinking happy magical thoughts of things. I think if you consider this that it is actually a solid plan for achievement in any area.
These writers seem to have missed a key point about the law of attraction and the Science of Getting Rich, action is required. This is very clearly stated in the movie “The Secret” and in the book The Science of Getting Rich.
One of my favorite quotes from The Science of Getting Rich is: “By thought, the thing you want is brought to you; by action you receive it.”
By action you receive it, that means doing something not sitting home and thinking happy thoughts. The happy thoughts and the thinking about it using visualization are done to trigger ideas about the action that you need to take to bring the desired result to you.
This process has been used by Denis Waitley to train Olympic athletes, this is something he wrote about in his best seller “The psychology of Winning.” Waitley describes the process even though the term “law of attraction” wasn’t in vogue when he wrote the book, still he has all of the steps.
The same is true of the book “The Science of Getting Rich.” This book is a treatise on the law of attraction even though the term is not used even once in the entire book. Still the steps are clearly laid out as the loop that was mentioned at the beginning of this article.
Many deride the law of attraction after never having understood it. They grab onto the idea of happy thoughts and wishful thinking and correctly realize that doing just this doesn’t work. However they have failed to see the complete process of the law of attraction, that you spin ideas off of the visualization, then you act on the ideas. Action, action, action is very clearly called for by all responsible teachers of the law.
Do the steps and repeat daily and soon results will follow. This is the law of attraction.

How To Use The Law of Attraction And Get Results

What are the steps to using the law of attraction, how can you make it work for you? The steps are simple and quite straightforward yet many people either cannot do them or resist them, not believing that it could be so simple. How about you, can you suspend disbelief enough to give it a chance?
Simply put the law of attraction is rooted in antiquity and in the Bible. Many verses echo it’s principals, for example Phillipians 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.

A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
In scripture after scripture both the old and new testaments echo the law of attraction.
The law of attraction boils down to three simple steps, it is an idea distillation process where the ideas are generated and then refined by writing them down, and finally even further refined or distilled by taking action. In this way the ideas are generated and refined.
Can you see yourself waking up in the life that you absolutely want? Can you see it down to the smallest detail? Can you see thing you do turning out for you, the way you want?
This is actually the first step in the law of attraction, positive imaging, positive expectation that things turn out for you.
This kind of visioning should be done morning and night, about a 10 minute session at each end of the day.
The next step is to write down the ideas that spin off from the visioning. Write them down and if anything is actionable then take action on it. It may be an impression or it may be something concrete to do. In either case do what you can toward it.
The other part of this is to bring it to mind throughout the day. This is not a full visualization but a quick musing over the vision. This keeps it familiar and keeps your mind involved with it throughout the day.
So you put yourself in the picture and see it sensory rich, you see the vivid colors, you feel the textures of the things you put your hands on, you smell the smells, and you immerse yourself in the vision.
See the vision, write it, take action (Habakkuk 2:2). There the law of attraction is simplified. Take it into your life and thinking in that simple form. This is not and need not be complicated. It is a simple thought and a simple process that you need merely take up.
There was a great book written about the law of attraction in 1910 by a man named Wallace Wattles. The book never calls it The Law of Attraction but from the description he gives it is unmistakable that the book is about the law. The book is called “The Science of Getting Rich.”

Much like the diet and exercise industry, the Law of Attraction market has had its hucksters and charlitans. Many people unfortunately will listen and follow these claims and as a result, they find themselves wondering why they are not manifesting the things that they want.

To really be able to get past this, there are some Law of Attraction myths that have to be exposed. I will share a few of the more popular ones:

Law of Attraction is not a real “Law”

The Law of Attraction has never been proven to be a natural law like Newton’s Law of Gravity. This does not mean it does not hold merit. We all know that what goes around comes around, but you can’t prove that by scientific means. If you aren’t convinced, then pick up a textbook that is used at an accredited university and try to find the Law of Attraction.

Newton’s Laws can be demonstrated by anyone – drop an object and its acceleration will be exactly as the Law predicts. This does work every time – that’s why it’s a Law. The “Law of Attraction” doesn’t work that way. Having a positive – can do attitude, being confident, believing in yourself and your success is an advantage,  having positive thoughts is not the do all and end all.  Positve thoughts merely magnitize you into doing and being your best.  They also attract others who have a similar makeup allowing you to leverage each others talents.  The law of attraction also attracts things that you need in remarkable ways that cannot be understood with a surface analyasis.

Abundance

The Law of Attraction while stating the nature of end and sense of fulfillment refers to abundance. The theory explains the overwhelming feeling of happiness. Yet, the Law is unable to explain the disparities and inequalities in socioeconomic societies. Moreover, the Law of Attraction aims at abundance, taking into account, there is enough for all and one only has to find his share of prosperity. The theory wants us to believe in a truth which hardly exists.

 

Quantum Physics

The Law of Attraction states that thoughts are like atoms and carry energy fields. This is not a proven fact in science. Therefore, the reference to quantum physics is false. Additionally, many of the ideas put forth attach a magical, mystical explanation which many consider a form of “pseudoscience” which is not scientific truth.

Is The Law of Attraction Real?

For several years, the Law of Attraction has gained popularity although it has been around for over a century. The main reason is due to the successful movie and book, The Secret. The theory sounds amazing. Basically, ask for what you want, believe you deserve it, and the Universe will give it to you free of charge. Not bad, right?

So, is it that simple? Well, not really. There are a whole lot of people who do not believe in the Law of Attraction. The question is: Is it a real “law” of the universe? Did they just make it up to sell the book and movie? Or did they just put together a “feel good” theory for people to believe in? Is it all psychological mumbo jumbo?

If the truth be told, it is somewhere between the two. There actually is a middle ground. Many books about the Law of Attraction describe the law tell people to think of it as ordering a product from a catalogue. Except you are really telling the universe what you want, then it will deliver it to you.

While this sounds easy as pie, it’s not. It’s great to know what you want, and then concentrate on it, there’s one last piece. You also need to take specific steps (or actions) to achieve your goal.

Now, you may be thinking that you are the one in charge of your destiny here, not the Law of Attraction. Well, you are, sort of. But, there is something to keep in mind. The Law of Attraction is working for you as well. The more steps you take toward your goal, the more opportunities the universe provides for you. You just have to pay attention and act on them.

So, if your goal is to make $200,000 and live in Italy by next year, you can’t do that by thinking about it, waiting for the Law of Attraction to kick in. You must take some intentional steps to get to your goal. Now, you may end up taking some unexpected actions, but those will get you closer to your goal. Basically, you may not receive a check for $200,000 in the mail the next day (although that would be awesome!), but you may end up meeting an Italian businessman who wants to start a company.

The possibilities are endless. Besides, it sure beats letting another pass and just wishing you were in Italy with $200,000 when you could have actually made it happen.

The Law of Attraction: Breaking the Negative Cycle

Every day, we are overwhelmed with constant negative phrases in our thinking such as I can’t move ahead, I couldn’t be on time, I didn’t win, I don’t have enough money, etc. Sound familiar? Is mind set a representation of your current circumstances? If yes, then as you may have guessed, you are proof that the Law of Attraction exists. Though, you are shining example of attractive negatives, not positives at the moment. Let’s see how we can change that…

Breaking the Cycle

Have you ever wondered why we always seem to focus on the negative stuff in our lives instead of all the good? I mean, everyone has something. We do it out of habit. Breaking out of this “negative habit” does take effort, but it’s just like any other habit. It takes more if you’ve been doing this for much longer. Sometimes, the negative cycle has been passed down from generations. In many families, negative comments were simply considered “criticism,” but, in fact, you ended up mirroring their behavior. Isn’t it time to break the negative cycle? Or rather…IT IS time to break the cycle.

Many struggle with “negatives” daily. Those “negatives” seem to take permanent residence in people’s lives. When turning negatives into positives, it’s important to materialize positives into motion. Busy your hands with creating positive images for your eyes and mind to focus on. Some create visual boards. Others write and say daily affirmations.

Attracting Positives

Another way of attracting positives is to create your own manifesting scrapbook. The purpose is of the scrapbook is  to visualize what you want so your subconscious will see what you want and know what to do to manifest your goals, dreams, etc. Place your scrapbook somewhere near, so you can look at it often. It is your choice to share it with others or keep it private. This is for you and your fulfillment. Wherever you choose to place your scrapbook, the essential thing is that it is in a safe place. Fill your scrapbook with as many pages as you wish with positive affirmations, clippings, and pictures from magazines, phrases, anything which resonates with your goals. Also, include pictures of your family, friends, pets, etc.

How to Use Visualization When Applying the Law of Attraction

“See the end from the beginning,” is the way that Denis Waitley put it. “Know your outcome,” is how Tony Robbins spoke of visualization.

Each of these men were stating how to succeed in an endeavor before the term “Law of Attraction” came into common use in our society. Each stated a key element in the law of attraction and that is to know your outcome. So how can you learn to see something that doesn’t exist? How can you know your outcome.

Here is the thing, some can see the exact outcome so clearly that it does not surprise them when it comes to pass, while others have a less clear vision. If your vision is of the first type then go with it. But if your vision is vague, or gray, or just not clear then you need to continue with it to flesh it out. Don’t lose heart but keep going with your visions and they will become clear. Your brain just needs to build up more neuro-links inside. This will happen as you practice visualization exercises.

As the neuro-links build up your vision will become more and more clear and one day you will see it as if it were real while you are in your vision state. As this happens ideas about getting to your final state will begin to come into consciousness. You must note these down and act on them at such time as they are clearly steps to take to build your business, enterprise, or whatever it is you are creating in your mind.

Visualization is the first step to putting the law of attraction into action in your life. It is foundational, it is an exciting part of making the law of attraction work.

Using The Law Of Attraction To Build A Plan

The law of attraction is an important part of success. Success in any endeavor requires planning and a good plan is an important part of using the law.

Fleshing Out The Plan

The law of attraction requires that you understand where it is you are going, what success means. After defining what success is then you have something to use in your visualization exercises. If you are serious about being successful you will roll the ideas around in your mind at least once a day, and again this is in line with the law.

Meditation On The Plan

As you roll the ideas around, or meditate on them, they will cause other ideas to arise. This may not happen on the first day that you meditate, but it will happen so just be patient. These other ideas are most important to note down. In fact you should keep a journal of anything that comes up no matter how inconsequential that it may seem.

Taking Action

Consider how each of these ideas fits into your plan. Can you take action on the ideas, if so then get busy, if not, then take it into your next meditation with the intention of getting more ideas and information about it. Use each of the ideas in this way by feeding them back into the meditation always looking for ways to take action on them.

The steps to success with the law of attraction

1. know your outcome

2. meditate on it.

3. Feed the ideas that come out of the meditation back into it, meanwhile take action on any ideas that you can.

The Success Loop

Do the steps daily or even several times a day, the more you do it the better it will work. If this seems like work then perhaps you are not really serious about this outcome. If you can easily lay the idea down then consider something else. Otherwise you will create a success loop unlike anything you may have known.

Your focus on the outcome will become so intense and you will be easily drawn into the success building activities that are generated by using the law of attraction.

The Law of Attraction – Can I Use It?

The law of attraction reached public consciousness about 4 years ago with the release of Rhonda Byrnes “The Secret.” Many who had practiced the law of attraction considered “The Secret” a little thin, and accused it of being just a “feel good” piece. But the facts are is that “The Secret” did a great service in bringing the law of attraction so much attention.

How To Use The Law of Attraction

The law of attraction, in its simplest form, involves deciding with great clarity the thing that you want to attract and then following these steps.

1. Create a sensory rich vision of yourself, after you have obtained the object.

2. Note the ideas that come to you about the vision. This might be something that you should do or even someone you should talk to. This may take several sessions to happen but as you practice you will find this comes faster.

3. Take action right away.

Action, Action, Action

Do the thing that has come to you. If you don’t act on your vision when it comes to you then you are wasting your time with this entire exercise. Take action, it is that easy but the results won’t be instant. Often great things multi step. As you track these kinds of projects through you might make a chart and break out the steps as best you can. Then take each up in turn so you can progress through your project.

When using the law of attraction this way step 2 becomes critical. If you are visualizing such a project in step 1 then in step 2 you may see the project broken apart into smaller pieces. Next time you visualize start with the larger project and see yourself stepping out into your first step.

Journal Your Vision And Action Steps

It is important to journal all of this. Failing to do so will likely mean that you will fail to attract results even for the smallest project as your thoughts will stray. Using a journal before and after your visualization will keep you on track. This is an important secret that most people skip when using the law of attraction.

The Law of Attraction is at work in our world. The law of attraction works for everyone — is it being directed by you to bring the things you want to your life, or is it bringing you random results?

Growing Up And Losing The Law of Attraction

Most people have things reasonably good and just don’t question their lives. They don’t question what could be.

Our society has made life pretty good for us. It we just show up we can do quite well. And so it is that we do show up, get a job, get married, come home at night and watch TV or work the computer. We repeat the something the next day and just do not question what goes on in our lives. Earl Nightingale wrote about it in just this way in his “Strangest Secret” program.

As we come to the end of our lives and die, our friends gather round and say a few good things about us and we are gone. Sure we’ve had a little effect but that is all. We die with the song still in us.

But sometimes, something remarkable happens. There is a thing called the law of attraction. It is there all along but most of us don’t notice it or don’t believe it. The law of attraction is a means of attracting things into our lives. It is instinctive but as we live out our lives of quiet desperation we learn to forget about it in the same way we forget about Santa Claus. Just one of those things of childhood to put away as we grow up.

But as children we imagine, we see things we want to do, and we play as if it were real.

A friend of mine always wanted to be a writer and as a child she drew out typewriter keys on a box. Another friend setup a broadcast studio in his room and was a great broadcaster. For these two the childhood dreams didn’t end. They brought their dreams into the future and created careers for themselves.

The imaging as children and the compulsion to go out and make a typewriter or a broadcast studio are part of us. Most of us forget the process as we grow out of childhood. We learn to “believe it when we see it” instead of the childhood way of, “seeing it when we believe it.”

Learn to unleash the law of attraction once again in your life. Believe for the things you want before you see them. Belief is a necessary first step.
