Her family continued to encourage her until her desire to walk was so great that she sneaked out to practice walking and wound up a great Olympic Runner. It was the power of the thoughts in her mind and her self-discoveries that compelled her to walk and later compelled her to make a contribution to sports.

Notice Wilma Rudolph was not given permission to do anything and had one of the biggest road blocks a person destined to be a world class runner could have, crippling polio. But her desire to succeed was built to such a level by her families encouragement and by herself that she has shown us the great power of our minds and spirit to overcome what would seem to be the impossible.
